The Northern Renaissance was a time of great interest in local identities. And so clothing, and thus portraits, reflect this.

Saxony- East

Saxony is predominantly represented by the Cranch family of artists, the workshop producing a great number of portraits as well as hundreds of allegorical artwork with a decided contemporary take on clothing.
